The comprehensive spectrum in the Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineering Department is one of our key strengths.

Designing tunnels always entails coordination with other technical disciplines. For example, designing a highway tunnel also means planning a drainage system, taking environmental aspects into consideration, integration into the existing road network along with integration of traffic engineering as well as electrical and mechanical engineering. As a result, we have a great deal of experience from implementation of our tunnel construction projects in cooperation both with various departments within our company as well as with partner companies and participating institutions.

The project teams headed up by our tunnelling experts bring together the wide-ranging experience in civil engineering that is essential for successful project completion – consequently, our engineers view their projects from a global perspective.

Tunnel Engineering

In the Tunnel Engineering Department, our employees design all types of tunnel structures and/or underground structures. We plan all project phases and monitor construction in the form of construction supervision, site supervision, contract and construction management or controlling. Our tunnel engineers are responsible for incorporating traffic control systems, landfill spaces, construction site infrastructure as well as the construction scheduling.

Besides the construction of new underground structures, we also have extensive experience in refurbishing existing tunnels.

In addition to the engineering solutions for the final structure, our experts also provide services to ensure safety during the construction and operation phase. Safety during the construction phase is ensured by using suitable excavation techniques and tunnel support measures, and is influenced by a wide range of aspects.
